Research Activities
Each year, the Executive Council will select research projects to conduct. The projects will be proposed primarily by the member companies, with additional projects proposed by faculty. The plan is to support 1-3 research projects each year depending on the availability of research funds which will be generated from IARCI membership contributions. In general, one premier membership will enable IARCI to undertake one research project that will be selected by the Executive Council. Each project will be completed within one year.
The projects will be conducted by a team of faculty members at one or more Indian universities, as selected by the Executive Council. The program will provide support for one to two faculty members per project. Evaluation criteria for the selection of faculty will include such items as: residence in the country of India, potential for research productivity, fit with the selected research project, likelihood of success in their research, and university affiliation. Additional faculty members from outside India may be recruited to assist the primary team. Evaluation criteria for the selection of non- Indian faculty will include such items as: research productivity, fit with the selected research project, and success in prior mentoring.
Member companies interested in a project will work with the faculty to participate in the project and may also provide support in the form of staff, data, and other resources as desired.
The research results of each project will be presented at an annual conference open to all members. Research teams will prepare written reports in the form of white papers, technical reports, and/or executive summaries. Software prototypes may also be developed. The research products will be copyrighted by the research teams, but all members of IARCI will be granted a Creative Commons CCBY license to use the reports, software, and IP. Research teams are encouraged to produce research papers for submission to international conferences and journals, and there will be no restrictions on the ability to publish research, except for a 6-month embargo as requested by member companies.
